Technology is an essential foundation stone of transforming education and providing the tools needed to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom. SmartClass is a competition for post-primary schools in Ireland to win a complete technology package for their entire first year of students. The competition will be open for entries from the end of August 2011, with the winner will be announced in October 2011. SmartClass is being run for the first time this year by Intel, Steljes and the Educational Company of Ireland.
The package includes:
A Fizzbook laptop for every student in First Year of the winning post-primary school. The Fizzbook Spin provides netbook, e-reader and touch-screen tablet functionality in a single device.
Accompanying software optimised for education, including the SMART Classroom Suite.
Full digital curriculum content for the entire junior cycle, for the winning incoming first year students.
Wireless LAN fit-out for the school environment.
Relevant teacher-training facilitation and continual independent assessment.
Your challenge, as a school is to create an e-book depicting ‘Smart Class of the Future - 2025’.
Competition entries must be submitted in the form of an e-book containing no more than 20 individual pages.
Only one entry per school will be accepted.
The Competition runs from Monday, 22 August 2011 to Friday, 28 October 2011. All entries must be received by the advertised closing time.
